The Process for Getting Invisalign Near Sandpoint
Starting Invisalign treatment is an exciting step! You can be confident that we will explain what you can expect from the process in detail.
Step One: Planning Invisalign Treatment
We start with a visual examination, then take digital x-rays, panoramic x-rays, and intraoral images. Next, we use our handheld intraoral scanner to take comfortable, highly-accurate digital impressions of your teeth.
The scan produces a 3-D virtual model of your teeth that our dentists use with Invisalign software to determine the step-by-step movement needed to shift each tooth into its ideal position.
We then send your case to an Invisalign lab that fabricates the number of sets of clear aligners needed to complete treatment.
Step Two: Wearing Your Clear Aligners
The big day has arrived, and you're ready to start wearing your aligners! We'll give you your first sets of aligners that you should wear for 7–14 days, then switch to the next set.
Every time you switch aligners, you'll notice they feel tighter than the previous set, which is exciting because it's a sign that your teeth are moving as planned!
Meanwhile, you'll visit NIDG every eight weeks or so for progress checks and get your next aligners.
There are no food restrictions because you just pop the aligners out for meals and oral hygiene. Keep wearing and switching the aligners until you've worn them all and treatment is finished.
Step Three: Wear Your Retainer and Smile!
Congratulations on completing treatment! You will love the look of your new, straight smile so much that you might find yourself sneaking a peek each time you pass a mirror!
However, you're not quite finished yet, because you need to wear a retainer as instructed to maintain the results. Your teeth will always want to revert to their original position, and wearing the retainer as instructed will prevent this from happening.
