Missing teeth can make it difficult to chew, speak, and enjoy your favorite foods. It can also prevent you from seeking new challenges at work or school and even prevent you from finding romance. Tooth loss is a common but treatable condition that can improve oral health and overall wellness. North Idaho Dental Group provides high-quality dentures to replace missing teeth and upgrade your smile’s appearance. Our modern dentures are sleek, comfortable, and attractive!

What Are Dentures?

Dentures replace missing teeth with artificial teeth and a base or framework. The two main types of dentures are full (complete) and partials. Full dentures replace all teeth in the upper or lower jaw, while partials replace only some.

What Is a Partial Denture?

A partial denture is for patients with some remaining natural teeth. A removable partial has replacement teeth and a gum-colored base connected to a metal framework. Some partials have internal attachments or clasps that attach to adjacent teeth for a more natural look.

How Long Do Dentures Last?

If well cared for, dentures can last for about ten years. Taking good care of your dentures means:

  • Brush your dentures daily with a brush, cleaner, or water.
  • Avoid eating sticky, hard, sharp, or chewy foods.
  • After eating, remove and rinse your dentures.
  • Handle your dentures with care.
  • Always clean your mouth after wearing your dentures.
  • Soak your dentures every night.
  • Schedule routine dental exams, cleanings, and adjustments.

Your dentist will also provide valuable dos and don’ts of caring for dentures, complete dentures, and partial dentures.
